Scope
This policy covers the Cowl Protocol website at cowlprotocol.com and its documentation (together, the “Site”). It does not govern the Cowl protocol itself, which is non-custodial software that runs on Robinhood Chain: we never take custody of your assets, hold your keys, or control your transactions.
Our approach
We collect as little as possible. We do not run advertising trackers, we do not build profiles of visitors, and we do not sell data. Where we can measure something in aggregate instead of individually, we choose aggregate.
Information we collect
There are only a few points where the Site handles information:
- Email address. If you subscribe to updates, we store the address you submit so we can send you news about the protocol. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Basic usage data. Like most websites, our servers and privacy-respecting analytics record standard technical details — such as pages viewed, referring page, approximate region, browser type, and device category — in aggregate, to understand how the Site is used and to keep it secure.
- Cookies. We use only essential cookies needed for the Site to function and, where applicable, a privacy-respecting analytics cookie. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
What we do not collect
- We do not ask for, receive, or store your private keys or seed phrase.
- We do not link wallet addresses to your identity through the Site.
- We do not collect trading positions, balances, or order activity from the Site.
Note that public blockchains are, by design, public: anything you broadcast on-chain is visible to anyone. Cowl’s protocol is built specifically to shield your trading activity at the protocol level — but that is a property of the protocol, not of this Site.
How we use information
- To send updates you asked for, and to let you unsubscribe.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, and security issues.
- To comply with applicable law.
Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the service providers we rely on to run the Site (for example, hosting and email delivery), under agreements that limit their use of it, or where we are required to by law, legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
Data retention
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Subscription emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Aggregate usage data is retained in summarized form.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any message we send.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to keep what little we collect safe.
Third-party links
The Site links to third-party services such as GitHub, Telegram, and X. Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
Children
The Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their jurisdiction.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
