Compliance
Compliance screening
Privacy pools get banned when they become laundering tools. Cowl screens funds at the boundary so tainted assets never enter the pool in the first place — keeping the shielded set clean and defensible.
Where it happens
Screening runs at the deposit boundary, before value becomes a private note. Once inside, everything is private; the check is what earns that privacy the right to exist.
What it checks
- Source-of-funds risk against sanctions and known-illicit address sets.
- Provenance heuristics for freshly bridged or mixed inflows.
- Policy rules the protocol’s governance can tune over time.
What it never does
- It does not read or expose your positions once shielded.
- It does not link your identity to a wallet.
- It does not give anyone a switch to make your account public.
Clean pool, real privacy
A screened boundary plus selective disclosure is the difference between compliant privacy and a mixer. Hide from the crowd, not from the law.
